What do you notice in a person you meet for a first time or in first sight? Well the true answer to it is the appearance of the person and this is what is called first impression and that leaves its mark. It has been proved that 99.9% people judge a person by his appearance even before a single word is uttered by him or her. Same is the case in interviews. When you enter the room and sit before the interviewer the very first thing he notices about you is your dress and attire.
Many candidates make many mistakes in presenting themselves in a professional manner and hence these mistakes cost them their job.therefore you should always try to dress your best whether it's your first interview or a fifth, sixth one. It might be so that many organizations don't consider dress that much still dressing is an important and crucial part of interview. It is rightly said that how you dress, speaks for itself.
There are many key points one should keep in mind while getting dressed for an interview.experts have even categorized what men and women should wear for their interview. Like men should be dressed in conservative suit that would be in solid color, shirt should be with long sleeves and in white color. Shoes should not be meant to show your status but you professionalism should be obvious there as well. Aftershave should be used in limited amount. No spikes or vulgar hair style should be made. And one should carry with himself a professional portfolio or briefcase.
Similarly women should be dressed in conservative suits and bright colors should be avoided. Shoes should be with a moderate heel. Neat and professional hairstyle should be made. No jewelry would be better than cheap jewelry and makeup and perfume should be applied in low amount. Nails should be neatly manicured.
Many candidates make a mistake of wearing new clothes or shoes on the day of interview and it so happen that they do not feel comfortable in it and thus get confused.so always remember some key points that will help you dress to your best.
Prepare everything from dress to polishing of shoes a night before interview so that you don't have to rush in the morning. Always have some sort of breath mint in your mouth before you go for interview.
No doubt these things seem to be very little to us but are no doubt very useful to climb the ladder of success.
